CORAL BLAST
Coral Blast (also known as Oolitic Aragonite) is an organic, ocean precipitated form of calcium carbonate. Unlike other naturally formed minerals, aragonite is constantly forming and is renewable, non-toxic, and actually helps plant life. Aragonite can be food grade, so it poses no serious health risks, making it an ideal media for sandblasting.
Oolitic aragonite is a calcium carbonate mineral that looks like sand but has egg-shaped grains. It forms in tropical waters through precipitation, sedimentation, and microbial activity. Oolitic Aragonite contains no silica or other toxic components which sets it apart from many other abrasive medias.
Coral Blast is ovular in shape and doesn’t tend to clog pots when blasting. It also creates less wear on equipment (hoses, valves, piping, etc.) than other forms of sharper and more aggressive abrasives. It has a Mohs hardness rating of 5-6, so it is great for removing paint, light rust, graffiti, dirt/grime, and as a polishing agent without damaging the surface of the material being blasted.
